I’m 37 years old and I only make just above 20,000 dollars a year working as a clerk for the Cook County circuit courts. No, I’m not proud of it and try not to bring it up in conversation. I’ve been working for 20 years and this is all that I have to show for it. I can’t help it if my business went under and I had to file for bankruptsy. Yeah, maybe it wasn’t a good idea to own and run your own clothing store when you don’t really know anything about fashion trends or have good taste. The first few years though business was great. My partner at the time Ralph then decided he wanted to move up to Boston and start working for his brother’s marketing company. I took over the store all by myself and, for a while, things stayed good. Then, slowly, but surely, everything went downhill. Less and less customers trickled in and none of the promotions I did or the sales I offered made any difference. I took the job as a clerk because I needed something, anything, just to keep paying the bills though I had to move into a smaller apartment in a not-so-great neighborhood. I’ll get by somehow though.

I had to write quite a few of those proposal papers today for the federal government grants for the diabetes supplies my friend is looking for to help his dad. He is asking me to do it because I am much better at this writing stuff than he is, and I do not mind but now that I am really into it, I did not think I would have to write this much at all. I try not to use the same exact letter for everyone, change up the wording a little bit, but it is pretty much the same thing because I am asking for the same thing with each of them. The project for tomorrow then will be working on the state grants which will probably be harder because there are a lot more information I have to read through to submit it correctly, but I am hoping if I call my doctor, or contact one of the diabetes support groups I found online they can walk me through it. I highly doubt if I call the offices of the state they will be any help given my last encounter with them. I am definitely looking forward to getting some sleep and giving my fingers a rest from typing tonight.

Things are finally starting to get back to normal. I’m convinced my roommate has the best personal injury attorney in California. That case was handled so fast! I really thought with everything that happened that it would take at least a half a year to straighten everything out. She’s just relieved everything went well and she can get back to healing. She hasn’t been to the apartment that much. Now that things have settled down with the legal matters, she’s been spending time with her physical therapists. Her physical therapists think that with all the work she’s done and all the progress she’s made she’ll be out of the wheelchair within a week!

Jim needed to find a personal injury attorney in Seattle. He thought that he might have to fly out there to eventually do an interview, because the progress was so slow on the phone. She looked at it as a much needed break from work and family. They had some old friends out there too. He hadn’t been the same since the concrete block fell on his head. He was just leaving Starbucks and a big chuck of facade came crashing down. Luckily it was only a small piece that hit him, or he would be dead, but he said it was like a bullet. He ought to know, having been wounded in combat. He was knocked out. He fell over, but, oddly, his cup of coffee landed upright. That was the first thing he asked for when he came to.

Even though I have not done any more research into having Lasik done on my eyes, I have had a few occasions to talk with my girlfriends who had the procedures. They both seem to be doing well. My friend said this particular doctor had done over a thousand of this kind of surgery and had a very good reputation. He is the one I will go to if I decide.

I was able to help my friend today. She just lost her job and she’s running into a bit of a financial crisis. She was telling me it’s so bad that she was considering cutting back on doctor visits and supplies and I told her that is absolutely out of the question. She needs to take care of herself! I thought about it for a moment and then I remembered my dad has an acquaintance who is able to order wholesale diabetic supplies. She was so grateful when I told her that she didn’t have to worry about spending a fortune. She really has had a challenging year. From what I remember from our conversations, I think January is when she found out about the diabetes. I think that sparked a big adjustment in her lifestyle. I know it’s rough for her right now and it’s still all very new to her but I can see she’s really made so many positive changes since then. She’s really made a huge effort to improve her heath and that’s why I was so happy to be able to help. I didn’t want her to make all that progress only to scrimp on what she needs due to finances and then wind up regressing. Now she won’t have to worry!
